What happens when you’ve planned your entire wedding to take place outdoors and it rains? Well, this is what happens… and it’s beautiful!
I’d been looking forward to Hilary and Adam’s wedding for ages, the way they described everything sounded gorgeous. The plan was to do things a little differently and hold the whole day in Adam’s mum’s garden, surrounded by nature with a rustic, vintage vibe. Unusually, I’d actually met Adam’s mum (Zoe) before, as she runs a garden antique business (Garden Brocante) which I’d photographed at Chelsea Flower Show. Having seen her stunning trade stand I knew that this garden wedding would be something really special.
When the day rolled round I think we were all a little worried about the prospect of the ‘R’ word…and yes, I mean ‘rain’. Now I don’t want this blog post to be all about the weather, but I feel it’s so important that couples realise rain doesn’t mean disaster, even if your wedding is planned to be all outside. For me, this wedding is actually one of my all time favourites and not just because of it’s incredible styling, awesome couple or Polly the dog (though all definite bonuses). It’s one of my faves because of how everyone pulled together to make things work exactly as planned, despite the deluge which the Great British Summer so kindly provided in the middle of July! This wedding just has so much character, I’ve never seen one like it!
Aside from the weather there were so many things that made this day memorable, most of which were totally unplanned. Hilary and Adam chose to have a ‘first look’ which ended up being more accidental than deliberate, but I just love the photo where they’ve accidentally bumped into each other! Other highlights included Polly the dog nearly raiding the kitchen during the speeches (!) and of course the little page boy whose trousers fell down as he walked down the aisle! I’ve never seen so many memorable moments in one wedding and can’t wait to share the photos with you. Enjoy!!
